Mubarak Wakaso left the shores of the country to join his Black Stars teammates in Iceland ahead of next week Thursdayâ€™s International Friendly against the Boys of Iceland in Reykjavik.
Wakaso together with Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah failed to join the teamÂ to Japan after they were informed that they will be paid $2000 for each of the two friendlies.
Kwesi Appiah, head coach of the senior national team of the Black Stars confirmed that the pair opted out of the matches after being told they would receive an appearance fee of $2000 for each game instead of the usual $5000 the players get per friendly.
The Deportivo Alaves midfielder is expected to take off from Accra today to join his teammates in Iceland tomorrow after his ticket has been sent to him.
This means the 27-year old midfielder will be available for selection in next Thursdayâ€™s game at the 15,000 capacity LaugardalsvÃ¶llur Stadium in Reykjavik.
