Hope seems to beacon on Isaac Kwame Addae, the young unemployed graduate whose video has gone viral for pushing his luck to get employment by displaying a placard bearing his qualifications and particulars by the roadside in Accra.
Narrating the experience on the social interest show “Our Take†on GHOne TV, he explained that he nearly gave up due to the mockery of passersby.
“I nearly gave up. I started off from Okponglo heading to East Legon wielding my placard. Some people were laughing and all that. But at a point in time, some individuals approached me to share reassuring words with me that, I will find a job,†he said.
“Please I need a job. Isaac Kwame Addae. BSc. Marine Science, The University of Ghana. 0245230535," were the information displayed in the hope of securing a job after a relentless search.
Isaac Addae also revealed how he had been swindled a couple of times in an attempt to get a job.
He is however, optimistic that his effort will pay off. “I stood there for about 1hour 30mins and I’ve received some calls after that. I’ve received calls from over 50 companies offering me jobs and introducing me to the business side of Aquaculture. I’ve sent my CV to them hoping for positive feedback†he averred.
The development has been met with mixed reactions from social media users.
@wiz_porter indicated: Eiii so to find a job in Ghana after even graduating tertiary with some good results, you still have to go through this stress before it touches the heart of a good samaritan wow. God help him and help us all
@SonOfYaa commented: Who even encourages them to do such programs or going to Legon uni is an achievement in this country.
Isaac is one of the thousands of graduates aggressively seeking employment to no avail. It’s about time government intervened by proffering real solutions to the problem that has left many youths frustrated.
