Road Transport fares across the country will be increased by 10 percent, effective today Monday, Transport Operators have announced.
This is as a result of an agreement between government and stakeholders in the transport industry.
The increase has been attributed to the increase in prices of spare parts and import taxes which has eventually influenced the increase.
According to the Road Transport Operators, the initial increment was 15 percent, however consultation with government resulted in an agreement of a 10 percent increase.
The increase has also been related to fuel prices, which has been increased. Transport operators have called on the public to cope with the situation.
A statement has been released by the GPRTU in relation to the increment.
