SoNA: Akufo-Addo ‘skipped’ challenges in economy – NDC

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chided President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for skipping the issues relating to the economic difficulties being experienced by Ghanaians under his watch in his State of the Nations Address (SoNA).

According to the NDC, the president in his SoNA to Parliament on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, failed to deliberate on the economic challenges.

The NDC’s former Deputy National Organizer, Mahdi Jibril raised these concerns on the Dwabre Mu morning show hosted by Nana Otu Darko on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

He noted that the president was not confident in talking about how the economy has been mismanaged by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

He said it is the reason the president subtly did not speak about the challenges confronting the economy.

He added that the president failed to speak on the fuel price hikes, the cedi to dollar depreciation, skyrocketing prices of goods and services among others in his SoNa.

“What has never happened in the history of the delivery of SoNA was the no mention of the country‘s debt to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by the president in his delivery,” Mr. Jibril stated.

He said the president in his address patted himself on the back for the security of the state but failed to mention that it is under his administration that security personnel are killing fellow security personnel
