Sergio Ramos forced to change mobile number

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has reportedly had to change his phone number after receiving a number of death threats for his challenge on Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final.

Ramos left Liverpool and Egypt fans incensed when he felled Salah in the showpiece event which Real won 3-1 on Saturday.

The visibly upset Reds forward was forced off after half an hour when the game was deadlocked.

Salah has been ruled out for three weeks meaning he is likely missing Egypt’s opening two group games at this summer’s World Cup.

In the immediate aftermath of the game, an online petition on was started calling for the defender to be punished by UEFA for “intentionally hurting Mohamed Salah”.

The petition has received over half a million signatures and reports in El Partidazo de COPE claim Ramos and some family members were forced to change their phone numbers after receiving abusive messages.

One Egyptian lawyer has even launched a £873million lawsuit against Ramos.

However, Salah appears to have not blamed Ramos for his injury.

Liverpool physio Ruben Pons said: “I don’t think he is angry with him. It was an accidental challenge.

“We knew that it was something serious as soon as he fell on the ground because he never complains.

“We feared the worst.

“He is sad about what happened, but is totally focused on his recovery and seeing when he can be ready.”
