Ghana Rugby Players Welfare Association & Ghana Rugby Football Union Stand with a Fallen Warrior: A Touching Donation to Calestus Bosoka

Six years ago, Calestus Bosoka was a titan on the rugby field, a former national team star whose strength, skill, and passion inspired a generation of players.

He progressed from the U19 National Team to the senior level, representing Ghana in both 7s and 15s formats. He played for Cosmos Buffalos before joining Conquerors.

Over his career, he earned between 30 to 40 caps and collected more than 20 medals in both local and international competitions. But fate took a cruel turn when a devastating motor accident left him with a severe injury: his left arm paralyzed.

The road since has been one of struggle, resilience, and quiet courage.

Yet, on this day, 6th April 2025, hope shone through.

The Ghana Rugby Players Welfare Association (GRPWA), in collaboration with the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), paid a heartfelt visit to Calistos to extend their support.

Led by President Percy Adamson, Vice President Rachel Ankomah, and Executive Member Moses Agbenu, the delegation presented him with essential donations and a message of unwavering solidarity.  They also encouraged him to stay involved in the sport by exploring roles like coaching or taking on responsibilities such as Team Manager.

A Warrior’s Gratitude: Calestus Bosoka Speaks

With emotion in his voice, Calestus shared his journey: "Rugby gave me everything, brotherhood, pride, purpose. When the accident happened, I felt like I lost it all. But today, seeing my rugby family stand with me… it reminds me that I am not forgotten. This support is more than money or supplies—it is hope. And for that, I thank the GRPWA and GRFU from the bottom of my heart."

A Call to Action: Leaders Speak
President Percy Adamson emphasized the mission behind the visit: "Rugby is not just a game; it is a family. When one of us falls, we lift them up. Calestus represented Ghana with honor, and today, we honor him. But there are others like him who need our help. We urge the rugby community and all who love this sport to join us in supporting our players—past, present, and future."

Vice President Rachel Ankomah added: "This is not charity; this is duty. These players sacrifice their bodies for the love of the game. We cannot abandon them when they need us most. Let this be a reminder: Together, we are stronger."
