    NPC Ghana Welcomes New Technical Advisor

    The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana officially welcomed their new technical advisor, Professor Youhwan Kim, at a short ceremony held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the NPC Ghana Secretariat.

    The event, attended by Para Federation heads, KOICA representatives, Ms. Kyunha Woo (Chief Manager), Lordin Mintah (Programs Officer), NPC executives, and the media, marked a significant step in the continued development of Para sports in Ghana.

    Professor Youhwan Kim, deployed under the auspices of the KOICA Project, becomes the second technical advisor to support NPC Ghana.

    In his welcome address, NPC Ghana President Mr. Samson Deen expressed his profound gratitude to the Korean Government, KOICA, and the Korean Paralympic Committee for their unwavering support.

    "I have no doubt in my mind that the arrival of Mr. Youhwan will further enhance the development and promotion of our sports and strengthen the capacity of our Associations/Federations in line with the government’s policy and agenda of resetting Ghana sports," Mr. Deen stated.

    He also highlighted the various forms of assistance provided by the Korean Government, including human resource capacity building, athlete training opportunities in Korea, and the provision of essential sports equipment, logistics, and a 30-capacity specialized bus.

    Ms. Kyunha Woo, Chief Manager from KOICA, expressed excitement about the partnership between the Korean and Ghanaian governments, emphasizing its focus on the development and growth of sports and the athletes.

     "We are proud to support the NPC Ghana in fostering the development of Para sports and athletes," she remarked.

    Addressing the gathering, Professor Youhwan Kim shared his enthusiasm for his new role. "I am happy to be here today, and I love the Ghanaian community. I plead with NPC members to help me do my work judiciously and continue the good works of my predecessor, Mr. Lee."

    President Deen concluded by urging members and executives to fully utilize the opportunity of working with the new advisor.

    "He is here on official duties, so let’s work with him with professionalism to achieve good results for Para sports," he added.

    The ceremony underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing the Paralympic movement in Ghana.
