Greater Accra NDC Must Build Victory Statuette for Mahama and Ashie Moore - Theophilus Ankamah

A leading member of the Tema East Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has added his voice to high praise that the NDC’s MPs-elect in the Greater Accra region, have heaped on President-elect, John Mahama and the Greater Accra regional Chairman of the party.

In an interview with journalists in Tema on Thursday, Theophilus Nii Ankamah Densu Tetteh, called on the regional executives of the party to erect special memento for President Mahama and the regional Chairman at the party’s regional office.

“This is one of those special occurrences in life that as a party we must surely commemorate in the region and I think that a bust to immortalize this legendary victory for His Excellency President John Mahama and Chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore will be very befitting,” Theophilus Nii Ankamah Densu Tetteh said.

According to him, such a gesture will also help memorialize “the greatest political comeback in the history of Ghana’s fourth republic.”

Mr. Theophilus Nii Ankamah Densu Tetteh’s call is coming in the wake of high praise that the NDC’s MPs elect in Greater Accra, have buffeted on president Mahama and the regional Chairman.

Though a swing region, Greater Accra fell massively to the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the 2024 polls, with the NDC winning 31 out of 34 of the region’s 34 seats.

In their earlier statement of appreciation, the Greater Accra NDC MPs said the victory has                         re-established the NDC as the party to beat in the region and returned it to solid winning ways.

They also attributed the victory to exceptionally savvy election strategy that the regional Chairman deployed for the elections.

Adlibbing this, Mr. Theophilus Nii Ankamah Densu Tetteh said Ashie Moore really became a genius in the election and that through the shrewd technique he managed to prevent the NPP from rigging the vote this time round.

“As a party, I think we have a very obvious duty to specially appreciate Ashie Moore for the fantastic work that has been done – to win 31 seats out of 34 from an incumbent government. I call on the executives of the Greater Accra region to come up with some special recognition and I propose a bust,” he said.

Similarly, he also added that President Mahama’s comeback be specially commemorated by the party in the region.

“Again, I propose a bust or what we call a statuette for President Mahama at the regional party office as well,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Densu Tetteh has called on President Mahama to unite the rank and file of the party, by laying aside all grievances and strengthening the base of the party.

“Before the election, there were unkind words that were spoken and there were tempers that flared, but I think it is important that His Excellency President Mahama demonstrate extra leadership and exercise forgiveness and bring everyone back on board. I would like to commend the Greater Accra NDC MPs elect especially the  hard working Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten of Tema East, for showing appreciation to president John Mahama and Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore,” he added.

“I would also want to doff-off my hat for Julius Debrah, former Chief of Staff, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, former Accra Mayor and  Ablekuma South MP elect, Mr. Danny Annang, a former National Vice Chair and Nii Djanma Vanderpuije, alias Van Pee, a leading member of the NDC in the region for their wonderful contribution to the 2024 election victory,” Theophilus Nii Ankamah Densu Tetteh concluded.
