Accra Sports Stadium awaits CAF approval as it takes great shape

Ahead of the double header between the Black Stars of Ghana and their Sudanese counterparts in the 2025 AFCON qualifier, the Accra Sports Stadium has been prepared and put into tremendous shape to host the much awaited game.
It may be recalled that the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) put an embargo on the favourite Baba Yara Sports Stadium following the Ghana - Angola 2025 AFCON qualifier in September.
It was due to the deplorable state of the Baba Yara pitch which received massive criticism from both coaches of Ghana and Angola as well as football lovers worldwide.
The circumstances also led to the sacking of National Sports Authority (NSA) Boss, Dodzie Numekevor by President Akufo Addo.
After incuring this global shame which has never happened to Ghana Football, the Ministry of Youth and Sports tasked the NSA and GFA to put their tools together and find a standard pitch that will meet FIFA and CAF requirement to host official matches.
The order from Sports Minister Honourable Yusif Mustapha seems to have yielded good results. The Accra Sports Stadium which has not hosted any competitive international match for many years has undergone total transformation giving huge relief to highly bothered Ghanaian football fans.
It is currently awaiting CAF approval for the Black Stars home AFCON qualifier against Sundan on 11th October, 2024.
Aftwards, coach Otto Addo and his men will travel to Sudan for the return fixture on 14th October, 2024.
