UK Labour Party Victory: Ghanaians also waiting to vote out NPP – Shamima Muslim

Broadcast Journalist and Founder of the Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA), Shamima Muslim has said Ghanaians will vote out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) come December 2024 just like the Labour Party of the United Kingdom(UK) has been voted out.

Ms Muslim, a respected Development Communications specialist and advocate for the welfare of women in media, argued that no political party deserves to be rewarded for leading a country into crisis and that the results of the UK election, in which an incumbent party lost, show clearly that it is possible to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in this year’s General Elections.

“Congratulations to the #UK Labour Party for your landslide win. Indeed no one should be rewarded who have led a country into crisis.

We in Ghana are waiting to deliver an equally SOBERING VERDICT. We are inspired and convinced.#ITISPOSSIBLE to Vote out the NPP. GH well be restored,” he wrote in reaction to news that the Labour Party in the UK had secured a majority of parliamentary seats following yesterday’s general elections.

Even though a party needs a minimum of 326 parliamentary seats to win the elections and form the majority caucus in Parliament, the Labour Party has so far won 411 seats out of 650 seats even as counting continues.

Labour’s main contender, the governing Conservatives has won 120 seats so far, meaning that the Labour Party is in a comfortable lead.
