Christmas Is No License To Sin - Theresa Grant
Over the years, the world has culturalized Christmas as a time for partying, reckless illicit sex, alcoholism and all manner of debauchery, but this culture of indulgences only style the birthday of Jesus Christ into a sin troll.
This is according to a retired banker, Mrs. Theresa Grant who has advised Christians to be exemplary in their commemoration of the birth of Christ this December.
“Christmas is no license to sin even though the world has succeeded in degrading one of the most important events in history into the sin troll that it has become,” said Madam Theresa Grant, who was speaking on the sidelines of a party that she threw to mark her retirement at the N’Joy Hotel in Sakumono on Saturday, 2nd December, 2023 which was her birthday.
According to her, the state of affair creates responsibility for Christians to deodorize Christmas of all the misconceptions that the world has come to attach to the birthday of Christ.
“Christmas is an opportunity for introspection, a time for us to reflect on our relationship with our maker and also our fellow human beings. It is not a time to go out there and be promiscuous, but to observe our lives and try to make peace with God in areas that we did not do well,” Madam Theresa Grant said.
Mrs. Grant said this while speaking to journalists who had attended the party where as part of the celebrations, she was given a standing ovation for outstanding service by a teeming crowd of attendees.
A devout Christian, she spent her working life serving as a Banker with the ABSA Bank, Spintex Branch.
After 37 years of service without issues, Mrs. Theresa Grant told journalists that the reason why she was able to serve and retire in peace was because she made the word of God the guide to her life.
“It is still the guide to my life and it is on the basis of it that I advice that young people do not see Christmas as a license to sin,“ she said while beaming with smile.
Rather than drink, smoke and sleep around, Madam Grant advised that people use the time to meditate on the word of God and also reconcile with those that they are not happy with.
“This is what Christmas is all about,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Theresa Grant celebrated her husband, Mr. Ebenezer Paa Kofi Grant, a retired educationist whom she said has been her pillar of support through life’s journey.
“I want to wish my dear husband a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year and I pray for many happy returns for all of us,” she said adding that the wish also goes to all friends, family and loved ones.
In attendance were Lawyer Abraham Ossei Aidooh, former Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Mr. Edward Ababio, alias Opuler, chairman of the Tema premier tennis club. The two respected men flanked her as she spoke to the media.
Mr. Michael Yaw Offei, an international diplomat, Mr. Yaw Baffoe, a respected businessman, Mr. Napoleon Wobil, a reputable businessman, Miss Afia Boadiwaa, a businesswoman and Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, a mainstream politician with the umbrella family also took part in the “chop-chop”.
