Bawumia’s Victory Rally Should Be Held in Tema -Tema MCE
Ahead of the November 4, 2023 presidential primary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), pro Bawumia delegates and other supporters are already plotting the victory bash.
One of them is the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey, who has said that he will be more than happy to host the victory jamboree in his Metropolis, Tema.
“My humble suggestion is that, we should hold the victory party in Tema, and in this regard, I have two tentative venues in mind,” the MCE who is also the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate for Tema East wrote in a statement published on social media on Monday, September 25th.
The venues that he proposes are, “either the Tema Sports stadium or the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports complex at Tema Manhean.
Both are spacious enough to accommodate many in the teeming supporters that are waiting with bated breath to celebrate,” he added.
The proposition only underscores the MCE’s outlook on the coming election which is that victory is already a foregone conclusion.
And Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey did not mince words pointing out this in his write-up. “That Dr. Bawumia is the NPP’s next leader is written in the stars even though for the sake of democratic due process, we must go through the motions of an election.”
However, this is not possible because that would undermine the rights of people who are still in the race even though Dr. Bawumia’s victory is already seen as a forgone conclusion by many experts including Ghana’s most respected pollster, Ben Ephson.
In respect of his suggestion about the venue of the victory party, Hon. Amarh Ashitey explains that, “Tema is the capital’s most active hotbed for pro-Bawumia activities because the majority of the Vice President’s supporters and fans are here.”
According to him, “bringing the party here would only be in acknowledgment of the support base.”
Meanwhile, the Tema MCE has praised the other candidates in the race with Dr. Bawumia, especially, Assin Central MP, Ken Agyapong, saying; “the fighting spirit that he has shown is good for both the NPP and Ghanaian democracy as a whole, even though left to me, we would be better off uniting behind Dr. Bawumia and starting our campaign soonest.”
The MCE also urged that the campaigns be kept clean and devoid of insults, “because at the end of the day, it’s a family affair.”
