Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has made a U-turn on who will win the Premier League Golden Boot award for the top goal scorer this season.
Merson had a few weeks ago backed Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane, to win the Golden Boot award.
However, he has now changed his mind and picked Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to win the award this term.
Recall that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham’s Son Heung-min finished as joint-top scorers with 23 goals each last season.
Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s mid-week Premier League tie with West Ham United on Wednesday night, Merson said, as quoted by Sportskeeda: “Erling Haaland has taken to the Premier League like a fish to water and has already notched up six goals, but the funny thing is that he’s probably only touched the ball like 35 times!
“If he doesn’t get injured, I would say he’s already won the Premier League Golden Boot – we might as well just give it to him now! He’s had an unbelievable start to his Manchester City career.”
