Ghana midfield kingpin, Thomas Partey says has brushed off any suggestion of him becoming the next captain of the Black Stars.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder captained the country in recent international friendlies against Japan and Iceland.
The combative middleman has been tipped to succeed Asamoah Gyan but Partey has insisted that he is not aiming at the Black Stars captaincy.
“This is just the beginning, I cannot say am the captain of the Black Stars because I have important players in front of me so I just work harder as I said earlier and anything that comes is a bonus,†he told the press.
“As a player, I just play to achieve more for my club and country, being a captain doesn’t make me achieve anything, I just have to do my work and it will be the coach decision to choose a captainâ€
Thomas Partey was named the best player at the maiden edition of the Ghana Football Awards which was held last Sunday at Accra.
