Assistant coach of the Black Stars, Ibrahim Tanko has reiterated that Bayern Munich striker Okyere Kwasi Wriedt that he is still in the plans of the technical team.
Ahead of theÂ 2019 AFCON qualifiersÂ against Kenya, the striker was left out of Kwesi Appiah’s 21 manÂ squad with Belgian-based William Owusu Acheampong given the opportunity for a debut call-up.
But Ibrahim Tanko, who is a former player in the Bundesliga, has stated that the striker is in their plans.
â€œHe [Wriedt] is still definitely in our plans and we are still monitoring him,â€ he told Goal Ghana.
Tanko has however advised the striker to improve his playing minutes in a better division.
â€œHeâ€™s a very good player that we would ordinarily want to have in the team.
“He has to try to move from the second team of Bayern Munich.
“Even if heâ€™s playing in the German second division, it will be better than playing in the Bayern second team,â€ he explained.
Okyere has been limited to games for the Bayern II side in the Regionalliga Bavaria where he has notched 5 goals in 8 games this season.
He managed 22 minutes Bundesliga minutes last season after coming off the bench to Rudy to play for the Bavarians in their 2-1 loss against Borussia Monchengladbach.
Wriedt was handed his debut call-up into the Ghana squad for the international friendlies against Iceland and Japan.
