Obengfo Hospital not registered – HEFRA

Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HEFRA), licensing and monitoring body of public and private health facilities in the country, says Obengfo Hospital is not registered under the agency.

According to the agency, the hospital was in the process of registering the hospital before the death of Stacy Offei Darko came to light.

Matthew Kyeremeh, Registrar of HEFRA said that “So far as that facility is concerned, we have not registered them officially. We are aware of them and we are in the process of doing that,” he said on Joy FM.

He said the hospital was asked to provide certain details and put several things in place, in order for them to enable the registration to be finalised and added that, “we have asked them to provide us with certain information”.

We gave them a bit of time to do that and on March 26 this year they were advised to put in place certain things which includes pin numbers, fire certificates because we realised that some of those things were not in place,” the registrar said.

He added that On the May 25, the hospital’s file was reviewed and the agency decided to go and visit them but nothing was heard from them.

The death of Stacy Offei Darko, deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP) has raised several questions about the hospital’s operations.

Mother of the deceased has accused Dr. Obeng Andoh of her daughter’s death and is calling for justice.

The registrar added that the agency is working on publishing a list of all health facilities in Ghana, which are registered.

He stated that HEFRA is also collaborating with the Health Ministry to ensure that standards are adhered to in health facilities across the country.
