NGO ‘As I Grow’ supports Krutuase community with donations

As I Grow, a fast-rising non-governmental organization (NGO) based in the Eastern Region has organized a health screening, education on teenage pregnancy prevention and donated exercise books, clothes worth Gh¢75,000.00 to the people of Krutuase and its environs near Asenema in the Eastern Region.

The donation, formed part of the organization’s mission, of assisting to improve the quality of education, healthcare and the general wellbeing of the people in rural communities.

In an exclusive interview with Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac, the Chief Executive Officer of As I Grow foundation, said the aim of the donation is to bring hope, improve quality education and better the living standard of the people of Yele, Takase, Obuobi, Akura and Krutuase in the Akuapem North Municipality.

“I believe this donation would go a very long way to enhance the quality of education in these communities and also bring hope to the over thousand people living in Krutuase and its surrounding areas” he said.

Mr. Debrah also expressed worry over the high rate of teenage pregnancy in these communities which was one of the key reasons why the (NGO) took it up to visit these communities and educate them on how to prevent an unwanted teenage pregnancy.

“We came here most importantly for sex education especially for the teens because upon our server we realized when you pick ten female teens in this communities, out of seven are pregnant and this is a big problem not just for the communities but for Ghana as a country” he angrily said

“We are here purposely to let the people understand the effects of teenage pregnancy and educate them on how to prevent it.”

Mr. Debrah further called on stakeholders to join hands to help eradicate poverty in the rural communities.
