The home side posted a 2-0 home victory over Montpellier at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
The former FC Porto man broke the deadlock for the Yellow and Green lads with a fine strike on the 62nd minute.
His teammate Nicolas Pallois completed the leader with his powerful header on the 81st minute of the game.
He was replaced by SamuelÂ Moutoussamy whiles his compatriot Enock Kwarteng lasted for the entire duration.
Waris has bagged four goals with an assist in his nineteen game outings in all competition for FC Nantes.
