Lessons from the Western North Region; The case of Benchema Adjoafua road – Yaw Preko writes

On the matter of the Benchema road through Ajdoafua to Osei Kojo Krom. The late Prof Mills cut sod in 2011 but declined constructing it after seeing the cost implication.

In 2014 former President Mahama also went and cut sod and disappeared afterwards. He later accused the then candidate Nana Addo of sleeping during his campaign tour of that part of the country, that was why he didn’t see the roads that had been done by him (Mahama) in the area (knowing well that he disappeared after cutting sod). As if the people of the area too didn’t know what they needed, they were also crying for roads.

The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo represented by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia went and cut sod in 2019 for the construction of the same road. This time a government has honoured it’s word.

This government did not consider the number of roads the same amount could have done elsewhere. The government did not run away after seeing the cost. The government chose credibility over convenience.

Looking at the pictures and videos that have come from the construction site in the last one week, one can easily tell who is truthful between former President Mahama and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

Dr Bawumia though not perfect, has passion and he is dedicated to the success of Ghana. His desire to see Ghana prosper is telling in his actions. He is your favorite politician’s benchmark for honesty and sincerity.
