Popular radio presenter and fashion icon, Kofi Okyere Darko aka KOD has come under a barrage of criticism from the public over distasteful comment he made about female celebrities.
The radio icon in his congratulatory message to John Dumelo, who tied the knot over the weekend, hinted that he has observed that, his male counterparts have stayed clear off female stars when making a choice of life partners.
His comment appeared to suggest that, female public figures are not home makers.
Obviously peeved by the comment, some female stars have reacted to the “negative tag†and described the radio presenter’s statement as “careless†and “heartlessâ€.
“[This marriage] has got me wondering why most men in showbiz circles settle for quiet/unknown women other than popular on screen faces who are all over. That could be a lesson for some of our sisters ooo; men want women who can make a home and not the ones who are all over,†the Starr FM’s Mid-Morning show host had written on his Facebook wall.
After the angry reaction from colleague female personalities, he has come back to clarify his comment.
Speaking in an interview with David Dei-Awuku on The Zone, KOD noted that, he will be the last person to speak against women.
“I will never attack women, I always speak for women and I will continue to speak for women. I have sisters and I have daughters.
“I will be the last person to speak against women. All my life, I have spoken for women. The comment was not directed at female celebrities, they were not on my mind at all. It was more about the so-called slay queens and stuff like that,†he explained.
KOD is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nineteen57 fashion brand in Ghana which has styled major top officials in the political, religious and entertainment.
