I gave Mahama $8 million for 2016 campaign – Nyantakyi

Interesting but startling reports emerging from the yet to be aired controversial Anas’ video has it that embattled GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi led a group of investors to donate $8 million dollars to the National Democratic Congress, NDC.

Police Raid Kwesi Nyantakyi’s House has learned that Mr Nyantakyi in a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department, CID, of the Ghana Police on May 23 reportedly disclosed that an amount of $8 million was given to Mr Mahama and the NDC ahead of 2016 elections.

Our source, who pleaded for strict anonymity, revealed that the CID has not taken the disclosure lightly and are bent on probing the matter to its logical conclusion.

The police, understands, are investigating whether or not the money was sent, how it was sent, if at all it was and who received what amount.

The police are also looking into a possible breach of financial laws if indeed the amount of money was sent.

“Former president Mahama could be invited by the close of the week to clarify matters. Kwesi Nyantakyi hinted the police in his statement, but they are all claims which are yet to be verified,” our source said.


In an undercover investigation conducted by ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the President of the GFA was alleged to have used the name of President Akufo-Addo, and the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to solicit funds from prospective investors.

The investigations dubbed, “Number 12” is centered on football and politics.

After watching excerpts of the video, President Akufo-Addo reported the case to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) who have since begun an investigation into the matter.

But the police are yet to formally charge Mr Nyantakyi.
