GHALCA loses lucrative sponsorship package following Kotoko’s withdrawal from G-6

Information available to www.asempanews.com indicates that Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has lost a sponsorship deal worth Gh¢800, 000 due to Kotoko’s withdrawal from this year’s GHALCA Top 6 Tournament.

Baladna, a renowed Qatar’s largest dairy and beverage producer agreed to invest GH¢800, 000 into the 2022 Ghalca Top 6 mini-tourney but later rescind their decision after league Champions Asante Kotoko pull-out from the competition.

The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko weeks ago wrote to the welfare body of Ghana League Clubs to officially inform them Kotoko cannot be part of the tournament for some “sporting reasons”.

All effort from Cudjoe Fianoo and his GHALCA executives to convince the Porcupine Warriors to stay in the competition hit a snag. Now Kotoko have confirmed August 15, 2022 as the date to begin their pre-season in Turkey.

The GHALCA Top 6 is in a limbo now but GHALCA EXCO will meet as early as possible to discuss the way forward as to whether they will find another club to replace Kotoko or cancel the tournament due to lack of fund.
