Five new players make Black Stars squad to face Brazil, Nicaragua in friendlies

Coach Otto Addo has included in his Black Stars team five new players for the upcoming friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua later this month.

They are Inaki Wialliams, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu, Stephen Ambrosius and Rashford Yeboah Konigsdorffer. These players switched their nationality recently to play for Ghana and will make their debut when the Black Stars test their strength against five times FIFA World Cup winners, Brazil.

The Black Stars will face the South American giants at Stade Oceane – Le Harve on Friday, September 3, 2022 to be followed by Nicaragua on September 27th. The Black Stars last two engagements with Brazil ended in defeat.

Brazil beat Black Stars 3-0 at the 1/16th stage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. They inflicted another defeat on the Stars in a friendly match in London.

Coach Otto Addo is not going for revenge per se but rather he wants to use the game to critically assess his team ahead of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The coach has selected three goalkeepers – Richard Ofori, Abdul Nanaf Nurudeen and Joojo Wollacot for the impending friendlies. There are ten defendes; six midfielders; seven wingers and three strikers in the 29 man Black Stars squad.
