The driver ‘who killed my daughter’ is still walking free – Ebony’s father calls for justice

The father of the late dancehall artiste Ebony Reigns, Nana Opoku Kwarteng, has debunked the story that the driver in the middle of his daughter’s death has been charged.

Some news portals over the weekend reported that the driver, Okoh Pinehas Chartey, has been charged for the late Ebony’s death.

Reacting to the news, Nana Opoku Kwarteng, in a phone-in interview with Emmanuel Agyeman(Braa Emma) on Onua FM Anigye Mmre entertainment show, denied the assertion. He also indicated that the issue hasn’t been arranged before the court yet.

“The issue has not yet been to court, and I have not heard anything of the sort,” he said.

He further alleges that the driver didn’t a driver’s license at the time of the accident. However, nothing has been done about it.

“Some time back, radio personality Adakabre Frimpong Manso told me that the guy was driving without a driver’s license, and I have not heard anything concerning that development,” he concluded.

Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, known on stage as Ebony Reigns, was a Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist popular for her hit songs Poison, Maame Hwe, Kupe and more. She was discovered by Bullet, formerly of Ruff n Smooth fame.

Ebony Reigns died in a traffic collision on 8 February 2018, returning from Sunyani to Accra after a visit to her mother. Her assistant and longtime friend, Franklina Yaa Nkansah Kuri, and soldier, Atsu Vondee, were also killed in the fatal accident. The only survivor of the crash was the driver. Ebony died eight days before her 21st birthday.
