    Brigadier General Punamane Hails Outgoing Tema Port Security Manager

    A former Manager of Security for the Tema Port, Brigadier General Joseph Malik Punamane has heaped praises on one of his successors at the Tema Port, Col. Benjamin Boamah, who is also due for transition.

    In an interview on the sidelines of a parade to change command in Tema, Brigadier General Punamane said Colonel Benjamin Boamah has been an outstanding successor and has contributed greatly to the development of the Tema Port.

    “As a soldier, I think he has been a worthy representative of the military at the Tema Port for the past two years,’’ Brig General Punamane said.

    “Col. Boamah upheld the standards that I and the hardworking Brigadier-General William Kwabiah left for him at the Port and discharged his duties honourably,” he added.

    In attendance at the colourful ceremony were other bigwigs in the military, including Lt. Col Adams, Commanding Officer of Michel Camp and Brigadier-General Dr. William Kwabiah together with Director of Tema Port, Mrs. Sandra Opoku.

    The outgoing Tema Port Security Manager is to be succeeded by Lt. Col.Daniel Atobrah Bondah, a very brilliant and hardworking Soldier from the 2BN in Takoradi.

    Col. Boamah, as Port Security Manager, made headlines in December 2024, when he led operations to bust three Nigerian stowaways who had tried to smuggle into the country on the Maersk Jabal ship.

    The feat brought Col. Boamah a lot of praise with stakeholders stating that the arrests inspired reassurance that the Tema Port is not porous.

    Col. Benjamin Boamah, who received citations and other gift items from Staff of GPHA including the Head of Intelligence, Ernest Panful and the Director of Port, Mrs. Sandra Opoku in appreciation for his quality leadership style, was praised by speaker after speaker at the function.

    Kofi Adu, the deputy PSM, George Yeboah, Fishing Harbour Security Manager, SK Sarpong, Dora Anim, Patience Dei Danso, Ohene Henry and Sheik Labaran were among the Security Chiefs who took photographs of the events together with the high-profile military chiefs at the well-attended ceremony.

    Brigadier General Punamane and Brigadier General Dr. William Kwabiah have also been praised for bolstering security at the Tema Port during their tenure.

    KK Fosu, Head of Immigration at GPHA Personnel of the Navy, Customs and the Police were also at the function.
