156 Ghanaians face deportation to Ghana from the US – Ablakwa

Foreign Affairs Minister-nominee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has disclosed that 156 Ghanaians are facing imminent deportation from the United States.

This development follows U.S. President Donald Trump's recent executive order concerning birthright citizenship.

Mr. Ablakwa made this revelation during his appearance before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Friday.

The executive order in question aims to challenge the automatic granting of citizenship to individuals born on U.S. soil, a practice commonly referred to as birthright citizenship.

Mr. Ablakwa stressed that if approved, he will ensure the government's commitment to providing support for the affected individuals.

He stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will actively engage with U.S. authorities to ensure that the process respects the rights and dignity of the individuals involved.

Mr. Ablakwa assured the committee that all necessary measures are being taken to provide assistance to the affected persons.
