Mahama pledges to end rising food prices
Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has vowed to reverse the skyrocketing prices of food and essential commodities in Ghana, blaming the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration for the country's current economic woes.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, 22 September 2024, Mr. Mahama stated: “I am clear in my mind what has to be done to halt the daily increase in the price of food and other essential commodities because of the economic mismanagement by the government of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia.”
The NDC leader emphasised the urgent need to address the growing hardship faced by Ghanaians and restore price stability.
He called for a return to a period where citizens were not burdened by the sharp rise in the cost of living, particularly in terms of food prices.
“We must halt the hardship on people, and go back to the days of price stability,” Mr. Mahama urged.
He pointed to the interventions outlined in the NDC’s Resetting Ghana Manifesto as the solution to the nation’s economic struggles.
Mr. Mahama assured Ghanaians that key policies in the manifesto would reset the economy and lay the groundwork for sustainable growth.
