Ayawaso West Wuogon has become very dirty, I will clean it up if I win the seat- Dumelo
John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has expressed worry about insanitary conditions in the constituency.
Addressing attendees at a mini durbar at La-Bawaleshie in Accra on July 17, he promised to clean up the constituency if he wins the pending parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7.
“The Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency has become dirty, and I will make sure it becomes clean. Ladies and gentlemen, please help us win the elections to move Ayawaso West forward,” he noted.
John Dumelo also appealed to constituents to support him to win the parliamentary seat which is currently held by Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He expressed confidence that if he wins the election, it would pave the way for the presidential candidate, John Mahama, to also emerge victorious.
“I can confidently say that when we declare the votes and I become the winner, it will mean that John Mahama will become the president. The NPP has been in power for over 24 years, and it’s bad and wrong. Help me become MP so we can move this constituency forward,” he appealed .
Ayawaso West Wuogon is a sprawling residential and commercial area with numerous foreign embassies.
The area is also known for its hotels, shopping malls, and regional and global restaurants, clustered near Kotoka International Airport.
The University of Ghana is located in the district’s north, and the tranquil Legon Botanical Gardens offers a canopy walk, ropes courses, canoeing, and rich birdlife.
The constituency has been a stronghold of the NPP, but John Dumelo is hopeful of winning the seat and bringing change to the area.
