Tema MCE Will Be a Better MP Than Incumbent - Charles Amos

The Assembly Member for the Padmore Electoral Area in Tema Community One, Hon Charles Amos, has said that the people of Tema East have a better parliamentary candidate   in the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, than the incumbent MP, Isaac Ashai Odamtten.

Consequently, he says that a wind of change is already blowing in the constituency with constituents poised to replace Hon. Ashai Odamtten with the MCE.

“In the past four years that Hon. Ashai Odamtten has been MP, we have barely felt his presence in Parliament unlike his predecessor, Hon. Nii Kwartei Titus Glover. Our MP’s silence in Parliament has left us craving for a new vibrant representative in the Legislature,” he told a group of journalists in an exclusive interview at the Padmore School on Saturday.

According to him however, “even though we miss the vibrancy of Hon. Titus Glover in Parliament, the good news is that we have another parliamentary candidate that will just be as vibrant as Titus Glover, and that person is Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey.”

Hon. Charles Amos said that Hon. Amarh Ashitey, “is far better than the current silent MP who only appears to be just a tag-along in Parliament.”

Justifying his claim, Hon. Charles Amos pointed out that in the four years that Hon. Ashai Odamtten has been MP, there is no developmental project that can be attributed to the MP.

On the other hand, Hon. Amarh Ashitey is known to have spearheaded the building of roads in Tema, especially in the Tema Manhean enclave.

He also posited that unlike Hon. Ashai Odamtten who came under corruption allegation after his tenure in office as MCE before becoming g MP, Hon. Amarh Ashitey has maintained an impeccable reputation.

“In terms of personality, Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey is more personable, regularly relating with constituents from all walks of life as against the incumbent’s tendency to touch base with constituents only during election times or festivals.

“The MCE, who is also the ruling NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Tema East is able to associate well with the constituents because of his depth of experience from the bottom of the social; strata to the top,” Hon. Amos added.

He cited the humble background of Mr. Amarh Ashitey as reason why is able to resonate with people at all levels.

“He started from very humble beginnings and did many ordinary jobs, such as fishing, local soccer, chop bar operation, before studying to become a University Lecturer, and a telecoms engineer, rising as far as to serving in high places at VODAFONE Ghana and heading Huawei.

“We know all of these high profile connections will serve the interest of Tema East well that is why many of us are eagerly waiting for the day to come so that we vote massively for him,” Hon. Charles Amos asserted.
