Man kills mother over Ghc500 – Report
Mercy Akosua Oforiwaa who is said to have retired from the Ghana Highway Authority has been murdered in cold blood by her son.
According to a report by Accra-based United Television(UTV), Mercy was reported missing some eight months ago in the Eastern Regional capital of Koforidua.
Frantic efforts were made by her family to discover where she was but all efforts proved futile over the eight months.
Mercy Akosua Oforiwaa was said to be residing with her son Gideon Asomani Addo who told the family that she had travelled to Kumasi for a funeral.
The report indicated that a few weeks ago, Gideon was involved in the crime of selling building materials belonging to a neighbour and was arrested by the Asokore Police in the Eastern Region.
After several interrogations, Gideon confessed that his mother did not travel but rather, he had killed her.
He said he was struggling with his mother over Ghc 500 and she fell unconscious. For the fear of people realizing what he had done, he picked up her remains and buried her in an uncompleted building close to their residence.
