Basic Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) kicks off this morning across the country.
A total of 500,000 candidates is estimated to sit the exams in public and private school in the exam which ends on Friday.
According to the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the body overseeing the BECE, 546 centers are being used for the examination across the country.
Students who pass the examination, will pursue secondary education, when they pass the exam and would be selected to the various schools through the school placement policy.
This year, students who pass the exam will be the second batch of student to benefit from the Free SHS policy introduced by the Nana Addo led government.
Later, today officials of the Ministry of education and the Ghana Education Service are expected to tour various examination centers across the country.
